My 69 D100 was originally a 128" WB and I wanted mine to be a 114" WB. I opt'd not to cut my original frame. I had a 70 W100 114" WB, so I decided to use it as a donor to cut.
The first step I would recommend to anyone attempting a sub-framing is to take your time measuring everything out. I used the 70 frame as a base to get all my measurements. Also, I logged all my measurements in a notebook with some diagrams helps.
I set-up the frame in the garage by leveling it across the lowest section under the cab and all the crossmembers using a 2' level.
Once it was level, Find the center-line of your front cab mounts, then proceed to record, rear cab, motor, trans, core-support, axles, etc. I used a 6' straight edge and clamps to get all these measurement along the frame rails.
This pic shows how I used the straight edge.
This pic shows some of the marks I used for reference along the frame.
Once you get all your measurements from your Sweptline frame next you can move on to get your measurements from the donor frame with the IFS.
