Hey gang- first post here- pround new owner of a 1971 Dodge D100, which is quite a project- but I'm game.

First issue is the engine....it runs fine- when it does....

It has new oil, plugs, wires, cap, carb rebuild (done by a PRO shop in Daytona and verified today), battery, starter, fuel pump, water pump, alternator.....and it will 'start' but not stay running. I know the timing is way out, I've been turning, starting, turning, starting.....and where it starts best it runs at idle BEAUTIFULLY for about 2-3 seconds, then quits. If I keep the gas down it will run like CRAP for as long as I keep it down, but that's it, quits immediately.

It does have leaky exhaust collector gaskets, but that wouldn't cause this particular problem.

Firing order is right- triple checked.

The fuel filter doesn't fill up all the way- but when I pulled the outgoing line from the filter I couldn't get it to stop gushing fuel, even turning it upward....weird.....

I'd figure the timing, but I went back and forth with the distributor so many times and the fact that at one point it starts and idles perfect for 2-3 seconds, then quits...points to.....fuel? I can't imagine what is going on.....
