i was thininig about that "wrap" i see, that product from 3M that they like to wrap cars with, the ones with all the graphics. they make them in a flat black and large enough to cover my hood, just wondering if they are waterproof. this is just a temporary fix untill i get the money to spry the whole thing.

I wouldn't risk something that might trap moisture against your
hood. If you're going to get this hood painted in the near future
you could just remove the surface rust with a drill/wire brush
and hit it with some acid-etching primer. NAPA makes a decent
primer. You could even get "fancy" and buy a can of [closely]
matching paint to top coat it with.
