Everything was fine until I took the cover off my electromechanical voltage regulator.
It was only charging a good battery in the low twelve and high elevens.

Unfortunately the battery was not disconnected this time. So my bad,.. and the cover vs the grounded regulator met at a fine wire that was hot for just an instant. I know from previous experience the regulators can't take that.

I do know better because i normally set them for charging remotely by the battery for convenience. I used to set many for charging when I was 14 years old working part time and full time summers in a auto repair shop.
