The threaded style as on this page vs. the current forum in use will require 2 or more pages with normal use. If we use the Board style for the new phorum, everything is neat, tidy and fast to download and fits on 1 page. We can see the post, number of views, number of posts in it, and the last nut that added a comment with date stamp.
All topics easily seen on one page. If interested, we can expand the topic and read all the replies from 1 click. A little getting used to but worth it in the end, IMHO.
So keep all the features of this phorum and add the tidiness of the board style that shows only the original thread until clicked and we may have a great forum.
oh, by the way, because all the topics are seen on one main page and there are no sub categories, this keeps the community feel of the forum unlike sweptline.org where I rarely visit. I do enjoy the PWA forum which is similar to sweptline.org but it's style is large as well and has so many sub categories that it seems less like an intimate community. As a result, I only visit 1 or 2 categories once in a while. It tries to do so many things to accommodate too many people and restricts users to post in approved categories. The freebird style of the phorum is always better. We really only have one topic anyway... sweptlines. If there were subcategories, then the nutjobs would post their obscure nonsense in obscure categories and Terry might not see it and miss the opportunity to tear them a new one! All that entertainment would be lost.
