So about ten years ago I fabbed upped a headliner using foam insulation and headliner material, glued them together with contact adhesive (when it was legal in California), it held and looked good for a few years then the material started breaking down and falling, so I tore it down. Here is my sol

Looks good Steve, ABS or similar is definitely the way to go vs fabric and cardboard.
I saved the center bracket off my 71 SE parts truck and I'm going to weld it to the roof of my 68, which will help hold the headliner from sagging.
