Mark, I have an existing problem in fitting my Ford Power steering box harness on this narrower D300 frame with the existing 318,. It appears the I only have a minor amount that needs to be shaved off the 318/360 to make it fit. The amount to shave would likely be a lot more on the 440 thus making my power steering application prohibitive.
I do believe that I can shave approximately 3/8 inch off and make the 360 work. As you know there are other ingredients/requirements which increase the work activity on putting a 440 727 into this truck vs. a 360-727. Therefore my choice is towards the 360 installation.
