I was wondering wha others have been able to haul with their Sweptline... I just hauled 2 pallets of clinker brick... a little over 1,000 bricks. The clinkers weigh about 7 lbs each. A 7,000 pound load in the bed. Fortunately I didn't have to go very far, about 15 miles. One guy with a Tundra wasn't able to haul even 1 pallet. He bottomed out when the forklift lowered the pallet onto hi

I learned a lot from knowing Norm. He built me a couple of engines and crafted a nice trailer from my extra Swepty bed! He's the good guy! Always there to help. He couldn't say no and was a pleasure to be around. RIP old friend!

UPDATE: Regarding the two different grilles, a spokesman for Prudhomme’s Snake Racing said that both trucks are indeed 1967 models and that the 1968-style grille on the Mongoose truck was offered as an option in 1967.

Terry: Both trucks are titled as 1967's, so the grill is incorrect... good eye on that! John: You would have had a great time at the auction!! Meet me there next year!!

Barrett-Jackson is now reporting the sale (Mongoose/Snake) as 1 million on their website. It looks like Rick Hendrick (NASCAR, Team Hendrick Motorsports) is the new owner and made a private deal after the "no-sale" at auction and is now the owner of the 2 drag cars and 2 Dodge haulers. He bought 21+ cars at Barrett-Jackson including the 1968 Sox & Martin Hemi Barracuda for $198k.

I just came back from my vacation at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale! Crazy... THOUSANDS of cars. Like SEMA with an auction. A very clean, freshly restored 1967 D100 CSS with a slant 6 just sold for $23,100. The 1967 Dodge D700 Hot Wheels duo Snake & Mongoose trucks with funny cars did not meet reserve at the block. I saw it reach 1 million but no sale. I heard they made a deal for $250k

The Poly is a very good motor and gives decent power. I have no plans for it after I put in a new motor... I guess I could sell it. I was thinking about running the headers on the Poly and keeping it but I'm not sure if they are available any more. I put in a request a while ago for a ceramic set but no response... The Poly has a cool factor and is a decent performer. The early 392 Hemi is

Thanks for the craigslist leads Shartwig... I am really preferring (as of tonight) though a 4BTA (not 4BT) aftercooled)... with the inline pump, p-pump, P7100. Anyone have any leads on one? Please let me know!! I think I am learning that if I went with a 6BT, although it would be AWESOME, I would have to box the frame, get a different power steering system and cut the firewall. It might n

Terry: Sam mused about a white 71 W200/Diesel he built/owned. It was totalled on a test run while dialing in new steering. He took the axles & some parts and put them on the 70 he later sold me. I don't think he has the 6BT because he mentioned he was looking for a diesel either 4bt or the 6 for his project 66 Ford 4x4. I can private msg you his contact info if you want to get in touch w

My 69 W200 had a similar Ford box and it worked great. My new 70 W200 has a Toyota box in the stock location and it works great too just a tad more effort to steer than with the Ford box conversion! If you are not able to work on this yourself, most frame shops can do this type of work. I paid about $1,500 (all in) to have it done on my 69 W200. g'luck!!

I am back in the saddle with an original paint 1970 Adventurer W200. I bought it from a mechanic in San Rafael, CA named Sam. He did some great work on the truck not thinking he would sell it. Here are some cool upgrades that came with it: - 318 Poly, Holly 600 dual feed, Custom grind Schneider cam, 8 quart Milodon oil pan - axles from 93 Cummins comple new parts from hubs to Power Loc (D

I would paint whatever parts have faded paint like your hood. Then, I'd find some nice "cleared" black commercial sequence California license plates and go the DMV and have them assigned to your truck. They changed the rules on this recently and they now allow it on cars up to 1969 and trucks up to 1971. What happened to grandpa's original plates? Make sure the plates you

I was flipping through the channels and landed on "Chasing Classic Cars" with Wayne Carini a few weeks ago and they had on a 1967 Powerwagon (with 68 hood/grill). They were auctioning it at Russo & Steele. Apparently the PW owner put $175,000 into that crew cab Dodge. It has a 5.7 Hemi, custom leather, A/C, Nav, complete nut and bolt restomod. I think it got to around $40k and it di

That was fun at Hollister... The Poly performed extremely well through the quicksand/cement, I mean mud. I did manage a full pull in that pit and amazingly, without lockers or limited slip. I had the stock open diff's front & rear. The Poly peg legged it through!!
