Hi Al, The easiest candidate would come from a '69-'71 100 or 200 series Sweptline. You could also consider a 300 & up ['69 or later] cab but would have to section in part of the drive line tunnel and slightly modify the opening for the steering column. The pre-'69 cabs had a different clutch set up and the wiring harnesses were different. Additionally, cabs earli

JimmieD was certainly unique. Its too bad that some other driver's error was his undoing. I'm sorry to hear this. He thought the world of you, Norm. My condolences to you, Tina and all of JimmieD's family. John

Quoteacirco11 Thanks John, I think I knew a couple of those but not the motor color and dash pad. As I search for the 66 I may look at a mid 65 or 67 as donor parts for sure but still want the 66 VIN truck. Until I get it I will keep learning more. Didn't care or keep track of this stuff way back in high school while I was beating the crap out of my 66........it took it extremely well now

Alan, Mid '65 and '66 are pretty much the same truck. You started to see more reverse lamps show up on the '66 model year. In '67, the exterior door handles changed to the push button style but the interior handle and window crank remained the same. There were minor changes to the dash layout and a crash pad was added on top of the passenger side of the dash. The Sl

QuotePwrWgnDrvr Alan posted a request for a particular truck. Gordo responded with a price. Its rude as hell for anyone else to try and get involved. That's like grabbing the cheese danish (yellow eh?) off the platter just as the person who got there first was reaching for it. Terry, That's a Gouda assessment..... but, then again, you've always been Sharp. John

Hi Alan, Welcome to the site. "Your" truck is out there.... waiting for you. A '66 long wheelbase wide box D100 shouldn't be too hard to come by. From an aesthetic point, you could possibly open up your search to include a mid-'65 and a '67 D100, as they are very much like the '66. Put an ad in the Sale/Wanted section of this site. You might also try this

Quotedemulsion QuotePwrWgnDrvr What is the star thing in the center of the grill? Ive never heard of, or seen that. Wish I had a picture of it... There was a guy across town years ago that had a grill with it. I guess I can't guarentee it was factory, but it sure fit as if it was. The only star I know of on Sweptlines is the gold Pentastar on the lower right front fender. John

The '69-'71 Sweptline hood fratzog wasn't on a pedestal. It mounted flat on the center hood line. John

QuotePwrWgnDrvr He's wrong! That grill was specifically designed to fit the change in hood style starting in 68, and is specific to 68 and 69. There is no year of swepts that ever offered an "optional" grill design. Well.... the spokesman IS from "Snake" racing.... John

Pre-'69 W series Sweptlines with the bell housing cross member are very difficult to use headers on. I know of one type of header for the A318 that works. Aside from that, my suggestion for your 383 would be to investigate a " shorty block hugger" style header or get a pair of cast iron big block exhaust manifolds. Headers are kind of a pain in the butt anyhow, with their le

Quotefrankyb The Poly is a very good motor and gives decent power. I have no plans for it after I put in a new motor... I guess I could sell it. I was thinking about running the headers on the Poly and keeping it but I'm not sure if they are available any more. I put in a request a while ago for a ceramic set but no response... The Poly has a cool factor and is a decent performer. The early

Quoterjstick Well since I don't really know the difference anyway - I'll stick with the NP420. If I have issues it's nice to know I could swap out to a NP435. Thanks Where you see the difference is shifting up from 1st to 2nd and shifting down from 3rd to 2nd. These shifts can be accomplished by double clutching..... No big deal and not enough reason to swap the tranny out

Quoterjstick So of course the experts here are correct - NP420 stamped right on the data plate (pic attached for all to see). You can probably find a 10 spline NP435 pretty easily. That NP420 is a nice, solid, dependable tranny though.... John

I have access to some NOS lock-outs from an old dealership that sold Dodge, Jeep, Kaiser vehicles. Its been a while since I've seen the inventory but, if memory serves, there were some Selectro and other WARN hubs available. If I knew which original mfg. part or model number to look for, I'd check and see..... John

Quoterjstick Interesting. So far from everything I've found this should have a NP435 and NP201. From my limited understanding it's only 4WD if I shift from 2WD to 4WD? It also has a Hi/Neutral/Low shifter. Keep both pushed forward and you're in High gear and 2WD. With no lock-out hubs, you're still turning the front axle internals in 2wd. With lock-outs, just your whee

The '61 hydraulic clutch bell housing has a different part number than the '62-'68 bell housings. I'd suggest a "wholesale" switch. Get the Poly and team it up with a '62-'68 hydraulic clutch bell housing and correct '62-'68 flywheel. Look for a 10 spline pre-'69 Sweptline NP435 as well as a direct drive starter. John

I wouldn't risk something that might trap moisture against
