Three weeks ago today, I went blind in my right eye.
Needless to say, that has kept me occupied because I had a major project that I was trying to complete.
My Grandmother was blinded by glaucoma and my mother has it also, but is being treated and her vision is fine.
So I naturally figured that I was next.
After several days of tests and doctors, the good news is that I don't have glaucoma and probably never will. The bad news is that I have a detached retina.
I had surgery Friday morning and there is a 50/50 chance that I will get 80% of my vision back. I think I will do better than that because I'm a perfectionist, but we won't know for 8-10 weeks.
In the meantime I have an eyeball full of gas to replace the retinal fluid and I have to stay in one position, leaning left at a 45 degree angle, for 10 days to keep the gas from causing harm to the retina...THAT is worse than the surgery! ha! ha!
