Hi, I have a 65 Crew Cab... here it is...



The area near top of the curve at the back of the front door is cracked metal. In fact, the cracks go from outside, all the way through the doorframe, and have started upward toward the roof metal.

It's this way on both sides.

I was told by an old car restoration guy, that this is common on high milage Dodge Crews from the 60's, and that it happened to the Fords as well. He said it is because the body is so stiff it won't give and yet the springs are so stiff that they tend to tweak the frame, severely stressing the cab right near the middle of the arch, where the body panels overlap, but are only spot welded to each other.

His claim was that it could not be fixed without extensive rebuilding of the doorway, including the arched area.

Have any of you experienced this? What did you do about it? Was it successful?
