All,
I was looking to put a large close knuckle dana 44 front axle on my 1968 w200 and the differential shop I took it to for inspection told me that the axle housing is bent. They told me that they can bend it back and that it's no big deal. I'm concerned about alignment (wheel alignment) after they straighten it back etc. I don't have experience with bent axle housings and before I invest more money into the project, I'm hoping someone here on the forum can provide me insight as to if repairing a bent axle housing is a good or bad idea. I don't plan on doing any extreme 4 wheeling or anything like that. For originalities sake, I want to use this type of front end vs. the more modern type design. My truck currently has the small knuckle dana 44, but I run 35" tires on the beast and prefer the more "heavy" duty axle for my application.

Also, I live in Tucson and if anyone near by has a "good" large knuckle dana 44 for sale, I would consider that as well.
Thanks for the advice
Mike M.
