....Trying to mount the body of this truck on a motorhome chassis proved to be a bit more than I expected as to finding the right place to put the metal outrigger style perches under the cab floors. Although the chassis are the same, and I measured everything before I removed the mounts and the body off the Crew chassis I still had to know EXACTLY where to drill the frame to mount the body perches. Here is what I did,,,,, I mounted the radiator support loosely and then bolted the front fenders to the support, then I suspended the entire cab with both my cherry picker and crank up boat winches with nylon straps which I hung from the rafters in the shop, I welded hooks to the winches and hooked them to the holes in the rib on the firewall where the fenders bolt to,, by raising the entire body of the Crew I then could adjust by rolling the chassis with floor jacks to mount the fenders to the body. After measuring and watching the body lines at the fenders and cab I leveled the body by lowering the 3 points of lift. I had to alter the two body perches under the front of the body to miss the stabilizer and rear of the front spring perches then measured all around from body to frame rails until it was square with the fenders and level with the chassis. Drilling the chassis was the hardest part but a sharp drill bit and some leverage on my 1/2 inch drill did the job. So the body is on and bolted down and looks really great!!,, I am doing the engine compartment wireing and getting lights hooked up and dash cluster also. Other than bustin my knuckle one time when the drill caught I still have all my fingers!!
