On a historical note that while this is not directly related to only sweptlines it is related to all Dodges ever made
On this date (October 25) in 1864 John F. Dodge was born in Niles Michigan
He was the older of the two Dodge Brothers who made the first mass produced assembly line truck in October 1917 in Hamtramck Michigan
It had a 12 volt electrical system, a sliding gear 3 speed floor mounted manual shift transmission and a starter generator that when the voltage dropped below 12 volts the starter would begin cranking to keep the truck from stalling, it also had a "silent" starter, it made no noise when "cranking". It also had a keyed ignition. all standard equipment.
Most of the design for the Dodge Brothers cars and trucks was done by the other Brother Horace who was nothing short of a mechanical genius.
I am grateful to the Brothers for the company they founded and the vehicles that they made
