Put an ammeter in series with one of the battery posts and cables. Then just briefly hold the other cable on the other post. If the meter pegs, u have a short somewhere and wires will soon start smoking. U always have a few seconds of current flow before wires heat up, so u could easily disconnect before its too late. U can connect the ammeter with some 12 gauge wire for this test. Or, put a fu

I wonder about the storage capability here. As time goes by it seems it could get seriously loaded up from all the picture uploads. Will it eventually have to be purged? Or will stuff continue to be moved into a separate archive? I dont see a forum # here, so is that archival moving process a thing of the past?

Which one? The underbed carrier is easier to find, probably 1 in evry 5 trucks I see in junkyards. Of those, about 1 in 4 will have the big wingnut. The fendermount carrier for the Utes is about the same. 1 in 5 trucks with that fender will have the base part, about 1 in 5 of those will have the correct bolt and cross bracket. If at all possible, I never pass either up!

I will be back there in about 10 days and will take many more pics. I didnt take nearly enough last time. I was looking thru the FSM tonite at the specs page and discovered this truck has the extra eqpt front and rear axles. 9000 and 22000 instead of 7000 and 18500. GCW is a staggering 55,000!

Are u interested Norm? I just talked to the owner. He wasn't close to it, but he thinks they are 10x20's and couldn't recall the tread depth. He also has a stack of extra tires on wheels that he would include if needed to make the deal work. Best part is, the engine is the 361!!! Wheels/hubs are the star type with lugss at the tips.

Three Californian surgeons were playing golf together and discussing surgeries they had performed. One of them said, "I'm the best surgeon in California. In my favorite case, a concert pianist lost several fingers in an accident, I reattached them, and 8 months later he performed a private concert for the Queen of England." The second surgeon said, "That's nothing. A y

Are pre 69 axles the same as later, such that the 6 lug hubs can be interchanged with the 8 lug hubs?

Trey, all of these black trucks belong to the guy with the 440 CSS Ute from ebay. I saw that post from Phil and did upload the full size pics - took 30 minutes! Found that when I resize, it also downsizes the byte size. Didnt know until the first upload that hi res pics are also huge in dimension- they dont open that way in the pic viewer prog. Was under the impression that a small size was sti

1333. Re: Russ
Funny thing about the C's is, waaaaay back in the early 90's I was looking for a bell and tranny to put behind a 440 in my W300. I found what I wanted in a junkyard - a Spicer 5 speed and a 14" flywheel, clutch and bell. It was in a C, but I didnt even pay any attn to the truck cuz I was so focused on the parts. 15 yrs later I realized what I had been next to but it was long gone b

I just read the post about posting pics and file size limits. I take ONLY hi resolution photos, so there is nothing I have that can be posted here. They are all ~2.5-3M each. Sure not going to select different resolutions on a pic by pic basis merely to have pics crappy enough to post here. Im also not going to spend the time to open software and edit pics just to make them work. Ive never done

Ben did it with the new cab he put on his HPP. It was a HUGE pain. The driver floor had to be cut out and he welded in a new section from above the steering column hole, back to the seat and the entire transmission hump.

Russ, my old, obsolete, unsupported AOL 6.0 gives a resize option whenever I insert a pic into an email. That would be a way to resize it, then save it, if u still have AOL in your CPU. If u deleted it, then I guess u didn't have any more use for it...><
