Want to put a 383 in my 66 i have a complete 6 with bellhousing and transmission i also have a complete 318 poly with bellhousing and tranny.There both 4 speeds.I have the hydraulic bellhousings.The six has about 55000 on it runs good the poly has 65000 but was in a D500 I have located a bellhousing for the 383 but i understand you need the correct flywheel and starter.I have the motor mount brac

I have welded cast to steel with a mig welder never had any issues clean it take a propane torch pre heat it then weld it.As far as converting the steering i would rebuild the power assit.As long as the control vavle has been greased theres only two orings inside that will leak.The ram can be resealed as long as the piston sealis good otherwise it can be sent off to be rebuilt.I see where Rockaut

I have always used the thin valley style intake gasket as far as the wiring issue sounds like a bad connection i would chase the main feed off the starter solenoid.turn everything on then measure starting at battery to solenoid to firewall connector somewhere something is getting hot loosing voltage.

Try heating it with a rose bud dull orange in color then get a 5 gallon bucket of water and pour it on the heated parts most times this will break the death grip another option is to heat it take a airchisel and put it right on the end of the axle the hammering will break it loose get a airchisel punch that as large as the end of axle its best to have a long barrel airhammer.

Was at Alcoa yesterday they have a 6 inch trash pump that has a 413 on it there going to scrap not sure what it would take to get it but runs i need to take a closer look at it.
