Hi, After three carb kits I am still having a problem with the accelerator pump rod not returning on its own. It seems like once the leather seal swells the spring does not have enough force to move it. Even when I move it by hand it is very tight. The bore seems clean and smooth. Does the diameter

Is it a Carter or Stromberg?
Do you have a throttle return spring hooked up near the front of the manifold?
