Hi again Worried I may be wearing out my welcome three posts in a couple of days. How many types of transfer cases are there fitted in this era of trucks? I have a spare non chain one which i'd like to use its lighter and apparently better than the chain drive one I have in the truck now, its

John,
The stock transfer case for your truck would be a divorced np 205 gear drive(205s are part time).Next came the huge married np203. It is full time .It has a two speed gearbox,chain drive,and a differential set hanging off the end.Next came the lightest,the married 208.It is a part time(no differential set)chain drive unit.For heavy duty use the married np 205 was used.1993 was the last year for the right hand drop. There should be a round New Precess tag on them to identify them by.
