i have been offered a trade on my truck that i am seriously considering, but before i do i need some questions answered.

the truck is an 84 or 85 1/2 ton long bed... /6 with the 833 4spd overdrive trans and 323 rear gears. real good running truck. barely 100k on it, and the old slant purrs like a kitten. the problem it has is at higher rpm it clatters like hell. at idle and on up to about 3krpm its absolutely quiet but if you rev it, or push the gear trying to get on it a bit it makes all sorts of noise. any ideas on what may cause this??? its got that weird ass ignition system, big control box hanging off the air cleaner etc, but im not sure if that's it. i really cant distinguish if the noise is ignition clatter, or valve train, but it doesn't sound deep enough to be a low end rod or crank kind of noise. any ideas? btw, it will do it under load and in a free rev, it doesn't clatter under load until you pass a certain rpm, so it doesn't appear to be a load related problem but more an rpm related issue. im not real familiar with these engines yet, but i figure there might be one of you guys who has "been there and done that"
