Re: Need cheap good wearing tires...
Americas Tire and Discount Tire are the very same outfit. When Discount moved into the NW there was a conflcit with another store using a similar name. To prevent legal issues they used the Americas name in some of the NW. I thought it was all over here but I saw a Discount last week around the Seattle area. BTW, there is also another arm called Discount wholesale or something like that. Couple bucks cheaper sometimes and they will ship to your closest store for a better price than at the store.
You are right, the Nittos can be expensive and I have seen a negative comment here and there but not nearly as many as you mentioned. As few as I saw I begin to wonder if it is one of those guys like one of my sons. He's the type who can break steel balls in a sandbox with a rubber mallet without even trying.
Nitto and Toyo were the only tires that I found in the size I wanted, the weight rating I was looking for with the type of casing I wanted. The toyos were far more expensive and I have seen a lot of postive comments on the diesel sites about the Nittos. The casing is a very stiff sidewall which I wanted. Not as stiff as the 8R19.5 F rated tires on the PW but good enough. I think they do ride a bit harsher then the previous sets of tires I've had on the rig but no complaint here. BTW, it didn't say Made in America on the sidewall but Made in the USA.
Even better!
