John, the experieces which I refer to were replacing the Dodge gear box with a ford steering box.
By doing this one removes and throws away all of the antique hydraulic slave system, keeping only the pump in place.
Replacing it with the Ford box allows you to use your fan belt driven pump to feed hydarulioc pressure to the new ford gear box.
Every thing else is thrown away..!!
The ford box is not only a gear box like yours, but has also a integral hydraulic receptor built into it from ford. All boxes even the used ones from a junkyard have this built into them.
The pitman arm "after conversion" has all the power because the ford box supplys it. Your existing P S is totally different. the dodge system back then, has the pittman arm putting mild pressure to your existing slave which "after the fact" and with too much redoubled sensitivity gives easier steering.
John as far as parts needed to import,.....
Much less tha one would expect,.. Only the ford box would need to be imported. It is that simple. the pictures which I would send you explain it better than I ever could. Gordo
PS,. if you want pictures just send me a P M with your email address.
