You know, John, Hollywood has never been known as a pillar of truth! There were several custom car builders in southern California who built custom machines for movies. Some were very mild, just to disguise actual name brand, others remarkable and radical! I don't recall that movie so couldn't say for sure.
I do know a Pilot House or Power Giant front end will fit on a Town Wagon.
