The mounting will be the same as stock, using three 5/16 x 18 machine screws.
The left doors come with a Phillips round head machine screw, but the original mirrors use a Phillips oval head machine screw that is counter sunk into the base.
I will be making the new one the same way.
Yes, I'm making both sides for sure.
Once I get the proto-type finished, I really want to look into making or finding a source to make a rubber base gasket. The originals never used a gasket and almost all the doors I've seen that had mirrors attached leave a indentation in the sheet metal of the door, plus there's nothing there to help seal the mirror to the door. Kind of a lousy design with no gasket/seal.
I've also looked kind of quick here and there on the net for mirror heads, there a few places that have after market 5" round heads and 5.5" x 7.5" heads, but nothing really like the originals listed in the FPM. If somebody has a good source let us know.
The arm tooling is done and I have made the arms. I'm still working on the base part of it now, which is a lot more involved to setup and make the jigs. The tooling to make them involves quite a lot to get it right.
