The grill u have is a 70/71 grill. 68/69 has the vertical parking lights. There is something wrong with your hood release, as all 4 of those yrs do not require fingers to go thru that narrow space. 68/69 is opened by a lever that hangs down and is accessed thru the large grill opening.
