I recently found a set of tailgate hinges for my 1965 D100 tailgate. The truck has a long bed, the pie plate front lights and the rear brake lights are rather oval. Anyway the tailgate brackets are about three inches long, have holes on each end and what looks like a cup in the middle for the tailg

They are 3/8 coarse. The threads in the holes are rusty and that is why u can't get them to go in all the way. Run a 3/8 tap in the hole to clean the threads and it will work just fine.
I went to a commercial fastener shop and obtained stainless steel, flat head, internal hex bolts. Install them with anti-seize compound and they will never be a problem to get out.
Cheap folks just coat the threads with axle grease.
