Yes, going with the short 727 and the 201. Just figuring the tranny cross member now. Going to try putting a 71 cross member in it for the 727. Yes, going with the dash shifter too.
I picked up a cross member that was supposed to be for a 2wd 727, but it's not right and have no idea what it's for, I'll post some pictures later.
The later 69-71 4wd and 2wd are the same, just a small indentation on the 71's. The later style is a bolt-in drop out style which should work better. So far the only interference issue I see is one of the 201 rods might have to do through the cross member. vs above it.
The intermediate shaft is going to have to be shortened too, along with using a conversion u-joint due to the different size u-joints.
The 68 uses the large yokes and joints and the 69-71 use the small yokes and joints, unless I can find a large yoke for the 727.......
