I am making a batch of factory type rear shock mounts for D and W300 1961 to 1971 (possibly will fit 1 ton Power Giants as well). They will look just like factory mounts. I am thinking of making 5 pairs of each. 4 sets for D300 and at least 1 set for W300 are spoken for. Cost is $220 a set. I have

They seriously came with shock absorbers, only on the front!?
All the way until 1971?
This might be my new favorite car fact of all time, it's completely insane. What did the option cost, that it was too expensive for most people to spring for? I can't imagine it was more than maybe fifty bucks... $50 meant something back then, but still..
I am not surprised that the ride handling and safety are improved with them!
