I have a 1971 D300 dually with a 4 speed trans. I believe it to be a NP 435. However, when trying to order a kt to install a GearVendor overdrive i have from a later Dodge with a 5 speed, the guys at GearVendor wanted to know which 435 I have. They told me to measure the distance between the two to

The 63-68 NP435 used a 1" x 10 spline input shaft, straight roller ball bearings on the input shaft.
The 69-71 used the 1" x 23 spline input, tapered roller bearings on the input shaft.
63-71 used a 1 1/4" x 23 spline output shaft, 63-68 used a 1410 joint yoke and the 69-71 used a 1310 joint yoke.
To my knowledge the only difference is what I listed, aside from the wide and close ratio options, other than that they were both pretty much the same as far as bolt patterns front and rear.
