Hi there, Yep, Terry has it right. I had a vibration in the tranny on my crewcab. Even though it was not noticable on soft driving, I just had to fix it. It sold on ebay and the driver was taking a 9 day cross country trip with it.
Terry asked me to let him know which culprit the noise was. I changed out tranny with another 71 W200. No help.!!
Just to shorten this story a bunch. It was the crankshaft bushing for the pilot shaft. 2.49 cents,!!
Three tranny take out later etc. etc. (: Hit that puppy hard though but got er done last week.
Them barnacles one gets with older ness,.. (73 years young) they bleed when dragged across concrete.
Pat, I sent you updates on progress ealier today before I read this post by you. My Bad. You got email.
AND,.
Hey all,.. I do have a neat 71 W200 for ebay coming up in a few days. I will Craigslist it first. I am pleased with it as the final out come is super.
I still have a lot of minor work to do to it first.
BTW, The Irs cleaned me out of cash a time back and it appears they will be paid enough to at least soften up in 90 days.
They play hardball even on oversights 15 years back.!!!
I am putting in long hours, doing body work, engines, and whatever else it takes to make up for shortfall. LOL
I am not alone, you guys have your storys as well. !!
BTW I wasn't bitchn about the barnacles, just livening up my own post with a left field single. No complaints. life is good. Gordo
