"Straighten us out..."
Each person has the opportunity to learn. We either learn from actual experience or we learn through education which is the substitute for experience.
I learned the correct terminology through actual experience while working in a foundry back in 1956.
I also learned many things through education. One thing I learned through education was how to obtain information through applicable references.
Here we are exchanging information - some correct, some incorrect - by the use of a computer and the internet. Some of us use the available "SEARCH" function to get information. Amazingly, others of us do not "SEARCH" but go to the "ASK" function instead.
Some folks who respond to an "ASK" may have learned well and can give you a worthwhile answer. But that is not always true.
For example, some use the "ASK" function about resolving title and registration problems. Why "ASK" instead of doing a "SEARCH" of your home state's Department of Motor Vehicles? Someone who has learned only the answers for a state a thousand miles away from you is not the best source.
Here at the Museum I have over $2700 worth of Army Technical Manuals, Civilian Service Manuals, military and civilian parts lists, production histories, and other references related to the "Flat Fender Power Wagon". I currently have 16 FFPW's in various states. I can answer most FFPW questions you might ask.
I currently have only two "W" series Power Wagons and both are recently acquired. I have one factory service manual. I cannot answer any "W" series questions beyond the information in the service manual. If you "ASK" I will have to "SEARCH" in the manual.
From my own experience, I learned the answer to your question. I have verified it by an internet "SEARCHâ€. Shall I answer here, or shall I encourage you to "SEARCH" for the answer? The answer is just a few clicks away. I am quite old and do not expect to be around forever. When I am one less person you can "ASK", I hope that I have helped you enjoy this great hobby by pointing you to more information than I will ever know.
