I'll try to answer for Norm. There are a couple of ways to view messages. The default (one message per page with threaded list) is that all replies to a topic are listed in a threaded view with headers only beneath the main message. Simply scroll down to see the list of replies. You do not need to select next message to see the replies.
The other option (multiple messages per page) is all the replies are listed in their entirety beneath the main message.
The options can be selected in the Control Center under Forum Settings, Message reading display options.
