Finally got it done. The concept of capturing a 1/2" fine thread square nut in sheet metal is absolutely ridiculous. I spent several hours with wrenches, large ball peen hammer, 2# sledge hammer, impact wrench, 24" bar, 36" bar largest screwdriver I own, and more. Anyway, the bushings and bolt are installed, without removing the fuel tank and getting the torch involved.
