Since so many east coasters have moved to the Seattle area, they whined to the point that they have convinced the local governments to start using salt on the roads in a big way. I started noticing a few years agon they were using some salt related chemicals on the roads and my flatbed front bumper

They use MgCl2 almost daily in the winter on the Lewiston hill.It has been hell on my work trucks tailgate,as they rust from the inside out.No amount of washing can prevent this.They also use gravel,when its too cold for deicer, so you still get the windshield and paint dammage.
