Like you, I decided to update my stock front end to coil-overs and rack and pinion steering to get more performance: over 80 mph and my totally rebuilt front suspension was scary! It is not a crown vic conversion and it was pricey but OMG was it worth it: no wandering, disc brake make stopping at speed less sketchy, etc. I took my 68 to Martz in Bedford PA if you're interested in getting a

Thank you for taking the time to scan and post the article. It's interesting to see the predecessor to today's CalTrac in the early 60's. I'd love to find a fiberglass front end today.

He's showing his '67 Dart in the Young Guns class. This year the YGs are up on the hill next to the Jeeps. We'll look you up! Travel safe.

Is anyone going to Carlisle this year? We are going so my son can enter the Young Guns. Hope to see you there.

This is not a 1968 but it is a decent looking Sweptline barnfind.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a fiberglass front bumper for a 1968 sweptline? I am putting the truck on a diet and the rules say I have to have a bumper (... and they allow fiberglass). If no one here knows then I guess I will have to learn a new skill but I don't want to ...

We went to a show at Poconos Raceway over the weekend. One of the activities was a loud exhaust competition. No winner was declared because the crowd size covered up the decibel meter. I found this YouTube link and thought I'd share. The phone microphone is overwhelmed but you'll get the jest.

What is the part number for the complete turn-signal control assembly in a 1968 Dodge PowerWagon? What years would be a direct fit (splicing wires is not a problem). I'm see small puffs of smoke coming out of the turn signal lever area, signals don't cancel, and overall looks crusty (i.e. needs replacing).

Great. Sign me up for two please. As soon as I get them, I'm going to send them off to the chromer.

Do you have the inner plates too or would you use another mirror base on the inside? I have virgin doors so the inner mounting plates would absolutely stiffen it up and only require carefully drilling holes in the door.

This is what the Stockton wheels look like with SS trim rings, center caps, and zinc lug nuts.

Of course that works! Those first two are really just Alpha and Beta units. I can twist this anyway to be #1 so long as I get mirrors.

I purchased 8 lug, 16" wheels from Stockton. Just removed them after converting to IFS and five lug all the way around. The Stockton wheels are quality. Recommend letting them do the powdercoating (if you are going that route) as they know how to do it and have the wheel balance correctly. Stockton is good to work with but they have quite a backlog so it can take a while.

I don't want to make Perfect the enemy of the good (or even great as I am imagining). I had planned on fabricating inner door plates out of aluminum for support: why not put the insert/captive nuts in these inner curved plates? I can get help to hold the plate while threading in the bolts and aligning up the gasket and the outer part of the mirror. As for the reflective part of the mirror

Still eagerly waiting! Want to give you some encouragement as I hope to send a set of your raw mirrors off to a chromer. What are your thoughts on the mounting hardware and are you truly making the driver and passenger side?

I would buy a set! I have found a couple of sets but when you factor in the price of what a chromer wants to restore used mirror stems to the already high price of mirror stems and base ... it causes you to swallow hard. If you hear of someone reproducing these please PM me.

I too needed one so I purchased a similar unit for a 70 -72 dodge charger at the Chyrsler Nationals in Carisle, PA. It was close but I found that it needed to add block in each of the slots to keep the cables from falling out when I applied the emergency brake (I converted to an electric actuated unit because the roll cage ate up the space where the old level us to sit).

Well, I guess I'll be finding out for certain when I take it out here and replace it with a lighter unit. It works great but I need lighter weight and disc brakes more than I need 6500 GWR. Is anyone in the market for a newly rebuilt, full floating Dana 60 rear-end from a '68 PowerWagon?

I have read estimates ranging from 600 to 800 lbs with drum brakes. Anyone?

Does anyone know the weight of an 8 lug, full floater Dana 60 with drum brakes? I am thinking about changing out this rear-end for a lighter weight unit with disc brakes.

I bought my 2500 new in '96 with a V10 and the same NV tranny you are using. I had the same problem with vibrations as you are noting in the higher gears. I took the truck back to the dealer three times to fix this "problem" and they never solved the vibration: told me that was what it was designed to sound like. Not what I wanted to here but 150k miles later I have not had a si
