This truck belongs to one of our female truck owners, Stephanie, during the 6 yrs I've known her, Stephanie's husband was or is, (I truely believe he's starting to like Mopar's) a Chevy man, his profession is a Cheverolet mechanic but he did a good job on the 400, I'm sure it won't be long until he see's the light. LOL! The truck is even better looking in person

Actually for the rear you don't have to make one, if you want to stay with the "shackle drop" then take the rivets out and move it up on the frame, for the front, well you commented on you feel your payload would suffer for taking out springs (I don't see it, but then again, until the 68 is on the road, the 70 has done some hauling, but it prefers to haul ass, or kick ass) but

Kirk drove in from BlackFoot Idaho, he called earlier in the week, and then Friday morning, to let me know he was on his way. He was at the meeting spot, along with some other trucks, by the time I got there 45 minutes before start time. For a period of 15-25 minutes it looked like the out of state trucks were going to out number the Colorado trucks, then the trucks from Colorado start pulling in

Thanks Norm, yes Russ we did miss each other! I see it growing more for next year, more vendors like the turnouts, and will give me a better way to get the word out to the truck owners who don't spend time on the internet. We ran a Raly this year, 7 trucks participated, (my wife drove my 440) top posted speed was 45 and that was only about 6 miles of the coarse. You should hear the storie

WTF? You couldn't possibly believe the rear axle can carry 3600 lbs, and from the doubters that have weighed their trucks they have come in closer to the 3600, but with the trucks that have weighed and do weigh (race trac if you still doubt that then they weigh as much as you want them to weigh.

see the CAP weight 3600 lbs that matches the title, which has it listed as CWT/CAP/Size the CWT (curb weight) etswepter 71 SWB, I know not many people remember BADEEDS but his 69 SWB with 451 stroker 3620. The older trucks 68-1961 are heavier because their is added transmission mounts, 3 total for the different engine tranny offered in those years 69 & up they eliminated the extra mounts a

how does your state figure your fees? so far int he 2 states I've licensed vehicles in they charge you by the weight of the vehicle, either vehicle empty or Gross vehicle weight, which is your vehicle (1/2 ton would have maximum carrying cap of 1000lbs) 4600 lbs. some where in all my photo's I have etswepters weight ticket as he weighs before racing at bandimere, I"ll get a copy of

because its listed at 3600 lbs on the tag, and it matches the title weights thats on your title, both Texas and Colorado has the weights on the title also, the 3800 for LWB is way too heavy. I'll see if I can get the title uploaded

Since Mopar Norm last year, or the year before has posted about the Poly barely being beat out by a 440, a few of the guys here in Colorado are askin and doing the research to stroke theirs, seems when I passed them they got the itch to go faster

your weight is listed on your VIN tag, but don't do what alot of truck owners have done and get the weight confused, you have the legal weight for the front axle, the legal load weight for the rear axle and the Gross Vehicle weight which is the truck and its licensed legal hauling and pulling weight, then you have your true factory truck weight of around 3600 lbs, but as PwrWagonDrvr put 400

QuoteHobcobble Many of the Lifestyle era trucks had rear sump oil pans. The swap is easy. Now... ain't that Sumpin... John the truck with the Power Rack has the engine also out of the 2002 Dodge Ram, its a EFI 360 if you saw last years pictures of the Cruise he had the engine in then, took him less than 60 days and that was because he had surgery and couldn't work on it for 3 weeks.

Quoteben Quotedakota dave after looking at the pic again i see the engine has a rear sump pan, likely why he chose to put the rack on the front of the axle. my truck came with a front sump pan (and u believe a lot of our trucks came this way, not all but a lot) so the rack would likely have to go in the rear. this could be the best answer i have seen yet as to power steering on these trucks

Quotedakota dave i dont understand all these arguements. i understood the first picture when i saw it, it is obvious if you have ever seen r&p steering before, but i have never seen one that is fixed to the axle before. my only questions are is it reasonable to expect the slip shaft to deal with thise severe amount of use seeing as how it will be under a lot greater useage than a fixed r*p

Quoteben QuoteMountainMoparRobin don't understand how bumpsteer would even be brought up, look at the picture, how is it going to bind? the axle moves up and down vertically... if you hit a bump and the steering geometry is wrong it will steer funny because of the bump to the axle. the shaft placement would need to compensate for bump steer and your photos and descriptions do not effect

QuoteMoparNorm OK, I get it now! I couldn't see the steering box that is attached to the rack itself! Thanks Butch, for the photo! While this setup may work for 2WD owners, it is highly doubtful that W trucks could use a gear box that moves with the axle. W's would require a cross-member and that could result in serious bump steer. There is no bumps steer with the D setup, but

gayo, where would their be and area for bump steer?who determined their has to be bump steer? look at the www.fatmanfab.com website on how they show steering geometry has to be done, this is a more straight forward system that has no area or parts needed for bump steer, period!

Quotegaryo When the axle moves, the rack and pinion will move too. That is if I see this correctly, the rack in the picture is bolted to the axle. On a ifs Ram truck the rack is bolted to a cross member that does not move. No steering box on any vehicle moves with the jounce of the suspension. Its always firmly mounted. Thats why on every rack and pinion conversion kit it comes with a cross me

QuoteJimmieD Bump steer is eliminated there because of isolation of parts and full hydraulic design. Bump steer is related to the connection between steering gear box, pitman arm & spindle, causing temporary incorrect tow out. That connection doesn't seem to exist in this design presented above. Link to info on bump steer: good to see someone has a clue

the rack is attached to the straight axle, movement happens to all components at the same time, everything moves, the 2002 Dodge trucks have a shaft that has 1 ujoint at the column, then where it attaches to the power rach it has a slip joint, bump steer happens when the steering system has a bind, because the geometry isn't in alignment, have you heard of 2002 Dodge Rams having bump steer?
