I suppose we can play with it some to see what that looks like. I'm suspecting that the ones who want threaded, may not have the easiest time using settings? = )

I'm not sure an hour is long enough. I may post and then go to another task, come back in a few hours or the next day and think what the heck was I trying to spell!?? Or I may have missed a word or posted something about Terry that I want to retract later....><

I have/had a paypal account. They are so incompetent and charge so much in service fees, that I stopped using it. I may be hurting myself, don't know, but they refused to direct deposit into the DTA account and they wanted to hold the DTA funds in a Paypal account. They claimed that my account and bank did not exist, understandable, since the tiny, little, Bank of America probably isn'

I'm kind of liking the flat/threaded. It allows the listing like PhrankyB is talking about, yet still offers the threaded style once you enter the post topic. This might allow some of the entrenched folks to adapt and then allow a pure board style later, or...we may like to try something else at a later time? I'm thinking keep it simple initially then tune it as we get the folks used

That is certainly something to consider...I guess when we get more folks here we can see how it works. If I'm in the minority, or if it becomes unworkable, we can change it.

Newest posts move to the top. The older posts are original test posts with new replies attached, which does make it initially a little confusing. Once we get everyone over here it will balance out and make more sense...hopefully....= )

Until that function works for you, you won't be able to register. Maybe lower the 1/4" steel plate a tad?

I've seen your screen...ANYTHING over 2x2 loads screwey...ha! ha! I think for now it's just about optimum. Once we get more users any issues will become apparent. a nice picture size (large sized in Image Event format) is 800 x 526 How does that look for you?

QuoteZantanon Okay, that worked. Zantanon is JimmieD! I attemtpted to register under my normal user name with my other email and didn't happen to think that authentication email is required. It is, and hasn't been received, but maybe you don't have that part configured yet? Well, it worked for me (registering that is). It should be working for you but I'll check with Phorum

QuoteZantanon Takes 12 seconds to display, took 11 seconds to post reply. That's double what other threads were taking. Bummer. Most of the pages here are loading instantaneously, on DSL. I can only guess that it's the dial up speed. Once we hear from the mountain hideaway we'll know for sure. 72 miles of yarn connection...

True, it also depends upon how the script was written. Super secure sites seem to be the worse, requiring every fucntion to load individually. However when you look at sites like Summit Racing or other catalog type sites, they contain a zillion bits of info and load fast, depends upon how the software is written and the resources to write it I suppose.

OK..., I do like that even though the reply moves, OTHER posts in that same thread are still visible in the individual post box, shown between the current message and the reply box....unless that is only a function of my admin screen???

Are you using AC or DC Current? I'm using IE, which is really sucking down computer space from other applications. Even with DSL most sites load slow unless I reformat. I suspect that the problem is often with Windows IE more than individual websites. More and more websites and services are using flash and mobile phone software to be compatible with cell technology and message phones. I

Quoteadmin The forum default time is the server time, which is in the Central Time Zone. Turns out the the default settings for time are relative to the server timezone so for the default time to display Eastern Timezone I changed the setting to 1 (1 hr ahead of CST). And just to add to the confusion, users can set their timezone in terms of the actual timezone name instead of the offset from t

Are you returning by using the "back" button, or by using "message list"? Also notice that an "old" thread with new post activity will "bump" to the top of the forum. That keeps old threads with new posts from getting overlooked.
