I would paint whatever parts have faded paint like your hood.
Then, I'd find some nice "cleared" black commercial sequence California license plates and go the DMV and have them assigned to your truck. They changed the rules on this recently and they now allow it on cars up to 1969 and trucks up to 1971. What happened to grandpa's original plates?
Make sure the plates you get are "cleared" with the DMV first. Before bidding, call the DMV and make sure they are not in their system. Then, get a 1970 DMV expiration sticker (also available on ebay) and attach it to the rear plate. Take both plates to the DMV and they will reassign them to your truck!!
