I agree with Jimmy about the EGT's. Those morons claiming to run 15-1600* temps WILL take out a piston or worse eventually. I don't know what they think is so cool about being stupid. Probably the same guys claiming 25+ MPG with 37" tires.
I have been around class 8 rigs most of my adult life and 1250 is the prescribed absolute long term pulling limit for EGT temps. I do understand the CR engines can run a bit higher but I would have to see that from Cummins before I would run temps like that.
I am not sure but I don't think there was a big issue with front axle U-joints until the second Gen rigs ('94) came out. That's when the axle change came about along with the coil front. I think the '93's were the last of the real good front axles.
Not everybody has front end trouble as I have over 178,000 on my '01 and a track bar is the only front end issue I have had so far. Hope I didn't jinx myself with that statement.
