So, sources disagree whether the camshaft gear on my truck should have a 3 bolt attachment or a 1 bolt attachment (I am redoing the leaky timing cover gasket, and I figured might as well do the chain set while it's off - especially if it turns out to have a nylon gear). I have just ordered one

Ha, just finally got around to this yesterday.

It was indeed the single-bolt type, with the dreadful nylon teeth -
must've been original, after almost 50 years and about a hundred ten
thousand miles.

Nylon was disintegrating so badly that there was about an inch and a quarter slop in thee chain, and we could remove the chain from the sprockets while installed.

Now has a nice steel Cloyes double-row, we should be good for the rest of my life, I expect.
