thanks for the input. glad to hear you can get over 10 on the bb. I am in single digits with crappy running holley on it now.

I do have an afb I am thinking of putting on with an adapter. I love afbs because you can really dial them in by changing jets and rods.
I had a 318 poly in a D300 that someone had put a 70s 2 barrel from either a slant 6 or a 318 and I got 19 mpg. I had hardly any power but the mileage was amazing. I switched it out to a stock carb and got my power back but mileage went back to 12 mpg....
on the 361 I will probably end up running on the lean side with an afb and have the secondaries for power. hoping I can get 12 plus out of the 361 if I do it right. it can handle the lean condition. 361 has hardened valve seats, stellite faced, sodium filled exhaust valves. bullet proof
