The splines on the input shaft on my steering box have stripped out. I have a couple other boxes that splines do not look in the best of shape either. The box that is totally stripped is a really tight box and the truck steered real well. My question is would it be safe to drill though the collar a

One of my most fun cars was my 1963 Triumph TR3B. That said, it tried to kill me twice. The second time I was tuning the carbs and just happened to notice the bolt through the steering column coupler. Figured I'd tighten it while I was at it. Found it too sloppy so pulled it out. There was about 10% of the 1/4" bolt left, the rest worn away over the years. I drove that little car really hard and I had no idea.....

Borgeson uses a set screw with lock nut to help secure their u-joints to the splines. Checked mine on the Town Wagon yesterday and found the locknut had come loose, I had no idea....
