......So I go in to the local machine shop the other day and start asking questions pertaining to the rebuilding of a 440 30 over, cam and bearings, all the rod and main bearings, gasket kits and head machining,, around 1.700.00 to 2.200.00 thereabouts,,,,I'm like "UUUHHHH???"!!! you know the Tim Allen noise,,,,so the other day I found an ad on Craigslist for a runner 440 with a 833 4 speed and so I called the guy and ya he still had it so it's in a storage locker sorta close by here so "OK I"ll come take a look see"....WELL,,,,his girlfriend got a wee bit outta hand and firebombed his 69 dart hot rod and just about burned down the neighborhood so he claimed the motor and trans out of it before the CSI inspectors got there with a tow truck and a construction crew to rebuild all the "OTHER" fire damage that was done....."OH and got rid of the flaming hot girlfriend"!!! SSSOOOOO,, the motor has burn damage on top but looks OK other than that,, the trans is good but missing the shifting linkages that are for it....AND his 500.00 want price went down to 100.00 so he could go get a fresh fix of crack!!!! this guy was ready to explode!! he couldnt stop twitching, itching, or scratching for 5 seconds,,,, fortunatly he had a cherry picker cuz these 440's are too heavy to just lift with the legs and stuff in the back of your truck.....anyway got it for one bill and it even has a nice edelbrock aluminum manifold on it..... I'll stick it up on the engine stand and look at the bearings and see what it needs to get it running again besides a good bath with engine foamy and a powerwasher. Ya'll keep your eyes open for me a set of shift linkages for that 4 speed OK???......BNC
