Norm I am sad to see this happening and GLAD that you're going to have time to do other things with those you love. I STILL wish that get together & BBQ in Colorado back in 199? had come together. Hard to belive how the time flies!!! Thanks again for all the help, information, and inspiration you have shared with SO MANY. Happy Trails ........ Pat

I could be wrong........BUT I believe the arm rests should screw directly to the door itself. Something like a #12 or larger sheet metal screw with a phillips head. Kind of angled up toward the window. I'd guess a guy could weld a 1/4-20 nut to the inside of the door and run a bolt through the arm rest for more strength.

I like the bumper remodel. Surprised there isn't a receiver hitch on the rig though. I find trailers of various sizes the best way to keep a truck bed in good shape. ALSO, you don't HAVE to unload before using the truck for something else. Just unhitch and hook up another trailer.

Hey Gordo A sandbag and a big rubber or 'deadblow' hammer will get you your dimple. OR more conveyor belting underneath. I checked the pans I got from VPW years ago and they are 0.0455, ~18 ga. The cab was ~0.0565, ~ 16 ga. AND as near as I can guess with the paint, etc the rocker/step is ~0.043, between 18&19 ga. Fender was ~ 0.0560 ~ 16ga. Hope that helps a little. Pat

On Terry's point : 500 kcmil (thousand circular mills)wire is rated @ ~310-350 amps depending on the insulation (thhn thwn, tw, etc). That is about 1" diameter of copper and THEN the insulation. I would venture to say that a starter draws somewhere around 60-80 amps based on most of our vehicles using a #4 or #6 wire to the starter and as a ground to the block/frame. Even most Semis wi

Of course THEY are in the business of selling battery cables...NO? I've used welding cable for years without any issues. If you cut some of the "NEW" battery cables you'll find they have LOTS of insulation BUT very LITTLE copper since copper is more expensive than plastic. OUTWARDLY they appear the same MADE IN CHINA. Just my 2 cents worth....... BTW, I've bee

You didn't mention the year of your truck BUT some years the hood will go at least 90 degrees. The hoods are known to fly up due to having a poor hood latching system, especially on early models. Many people {myself included} have hoods with a wrinkle in them where it hit the drip rail on the cab. For tips and hints on repairs go to the DATA LINKS bar and go to "Jim's CD&qu

How much of the body is plastic or carbon fiber?? IF the fenders were metal at least they'd be easy to repair. I DO like the look though. I wonder if they'd do a hard top and move the mirrors so they wouldn't be the first thing to go when you went through some brush??? ALSO, that thing in the front that looks sort of like a bumper would have to go since it appears that if you h

Gordo I sold the owner of the blue '65 a power assist unit and sun visors for his build. The rig was originally his fathers. His brother lives just down the street from me and HIS daily driver is an A&W root beer brown '34 Plymouth Coupe.......318/727 with a Mustang front end and a Corvette rear end.

John GREAT to hear you're making progress. RANCHO shocks seem to be fairly popular and work on my 68 W200. I have the 5000 series. As for sources I believe Summit, NAPA, etc have them. I don't know if Rancho has a direct sales site OR ships to England (I'd guess they would if they did). Are you in the area that got flooded out a couple of weeks ago?? Pat

Is this the current Warn part number 9072?? My 68 W200 came with the old style "bar lock" hubs, that have 2 bars that you flipped over and relocked. I changed them to the 9072 Warn (still have them though).

Given what I read on bbc.co.uk The NHS and hospitals seem to have CONSTANT problem with ALL KINDS of MRSA and other infections. Maggots falling out of the ceiling tiles, rats in the food prep areas. It would appear that a positive outcome is an anomaly rather than the norm in some hospitals there. Maybe it is just that the writers have a "thing" about NHS. ANYWAY, I'm glad th

John When I was ordering new springs for my '68 W200 from Eaton ONE of the things I learned was you could have the same # of springs BUT due to differences in length, thickness, or temper you would have a different load rating. Somebody with more knowledge/experience may have something else to add. AND I could just be suffering from 'oldtimers'!

The "'headers" are 18" of 2x4's laid flat above the openings. I figured the "live load" allowable @ 50 lbs per sq ft and the "dead load" @ 10 lbs per sq ft. These values were from: Span tables for joists and rafters, American Softwood Standard sizes [1993] American Forest & Paper Assc 1250 Connecticut Ave NW: Washington ,DC. Being as ALL t

THAT IS SWEET>>> I spent the last 25 yrs of my working career as a "REQUIRED OCCUPANT". Which meant that I was 'required' to live in housing that was available. Paid "prevailing area rental rates" and was told how to maintain my yard, how many vehicles I could have (2) and where to park them. NOW I can have as many as I want and park them anywhere I hav
