Gee, I've never thought about which TRAILER TIRES had the greatest amount of traction. I'll have to think about that when I get new TRAILER TIRES. You always learn something new here.

The first thing I would do on the 6 volt, positive-ground radio in my 1950 Plymouth was to carefully disassemble the vibrator and clean the points. When I put it all back together, it always worked. Of course, that has been a while. What you need to do is get a truck that has a radio that can be repaired with a pair of pliers and a points file. No test equipment is required. You can tell

Check before you buy. In the past, you added equal parts of water. Now, a lot of antifreeze is premixed so you are buying half water.

So now I owe Wideblock an apology, too. I apologize for taking some time to help find you an answer.

First of all, I apologize to Russ. I'm not sure why. All I did was provide him an opportunity to post to this thread while not contributing in any way to answer Wideblock's question. I maintain a web site to provide information about what are commonly referred to as "flat fender" Power Wagons. The Kempner Power Wagon Museum reference library has civilian service manuals

Why don't you look at the Toyota owner's manual or ask a Toyota service manager? Hey, you aren't the one who asks a guy in California how to register a vehicle without a title in Maine, are you? I have always used the "best source" for answering my own questions and for answering questions posted on the forums. I just want to know if I am doing it wrong. You s

My first cars were Chrysler products. In 1956 I had a 1949 Chrysler New Yorker. In 1958, I had a 1950 Plymouth Deluxe. I remember that, no matter what spark plugs I ran, those old flatheads were hard to start if there was any humidity. I had to wipe all condensation off the plugs and off the inside of the distributor cap to get them running. Now, I have no problems with humidity. The sa

First of all, I won't waste anyone's time discussing a faulty cooling system. My comments only apply to a cooling system with a correct thermostat and a clean radiator with a proper coolant solution. The rate of coolant flow depends on the engine RPM's. The water pump speed increases or decreases as the engine speed increases or decreases. The coolant flow increases or decr

It's okay if you can't afford to get some help on your truck. Please don't take it out on the rest of us. I started driving and working on cars and trucks in the early 1950's. Initially, I was helping my Dad keep his 1937 Ford Sedan Delivery running so he could drive it to work and support our family. I got my own car in 1958. It was a 1950 Plymouth. I worked on it so

I'm fairly new to these "soft fender" trucks. I'm used to the ones that you can use a front fender to knock down a tree without damaging the fender. I, too, cannot find useful details in my "soft fender" FSM, but the description in this thread makes me think I have what you need. Go to www.texaspowerwagon.com and scroll down to "Brakes" in the Freq

It's okay, Norm. That truck is from the Adminitactical Motor Pool of the R.O.T.C. department of the Clown College. The crew cab lets it carry about 25 "small people" clowns and being close to the ground lets them exit at any of the three rings in the Big Top. I particularly like the special treatment to enhance the tailgate rust through.

Vehicles procured by the US Army generally fall into two types - Tactical or Administrative. Tactical military units deploy from the base where they are located in order to perform their assigned mission. Manpower and equipment for tactical military units are authorized by the Table of Organization and Equipment (TOE). Each soldier in a TOE unit - from the General down to the last Private i

Who are you kidding? There's no such thing as a 1966 Crew Cab. I only imagined my 1985 W350 four door, 6pac. Dodge is running a TV ad saying the new one is the first true crew cab. We know advertisers and TV neither one ever say anything that is not the absolute truth, right?

I have added a 1967 W100 114" wheelbase Utiline pickup to my Kempner Power Wagon Museum collection of "Flat Fender Power Wagons" so I have a lot to learn. In the last year, I have bought a 1965 D100, a 1966 D100, and a 1970 W200 for parts that I will use on the refurbishment of my 1967 W100. The three "parts trucks" were all long bed, Sweptlines. The W200 is driven

"Frost plugs" did not appear in this thread until the post by PwrWgnDrvr. It is included in the Wikipedia entry for "core plug". That suggests that PwrWgnDrvr used the "SEARCH" fnction. That was my point.

Norm's vision is a little impaired. Let's agree that his vision of me might also be impaired. Lighten up. Most of us are into these trucks for fun. Just as harassment truly exists only in the mind of the harassed, challenges to ones knowledge usually elicit a response based on that individual’s own assessment of his level of expertise. The standing joke here is when you walk

"Straighten us out..." Each person has the opportunity to learn. We either learn from actual experience or we learn through education which is the substitute for experience. I learned the correct terminology through actual experience while working in a foundry back in 1956. I also learned many things through education. One thing I learned through education was how to obta

Trying to move this discussion away from the term, "freeze plugs" is like asking someone not to stare at a large pimple on someone's nose.

Tom, the map shows you to be at or near the intersection of E. Michigan Boulevard and South Woodland Avenue in Michigan City, Indiana. How did you post on the map? Norm, I registered for the TDA site a long time ago and I did the map thing. Then, in that recent redo of the site, I was dropped and had to do the whole registration bit again. I, too, would like to post my location on the map

For the last 12 years, I have been a "flat fender" guy. I'm really new here but I'm having fun on this forum. I bought a Utiline so I come to the Sweptline forum. Got it! I clicked on the "Buy /Sell Forum" link and there's nothing there to buy or sell. Don't got it. I clicked on a different "Buy / Sell" link that was not a forum
