I found out what the culprit was with my IBP distributor, when the vacuum advance kicks in it changes the points gap and the firing at higher revolutions becomes erratic. I tried to limit the arm on the vacuum advance. It was an 11 but I thought it still could be too much. It made it a lil better on the points gap. But I tried it out and still have the same issue. The Distributor is a pretty good one, there isn't any slop in it. Vacuum advance is okay correct ratio. Im thinking that my wire to the coil could have a short in it possibly??

Well I took out the distributor and put in another one and the motor run better! Im able to rev it up fine, Im relieved its not something internally wrong with the motor! Now I just need to find out whats wrong with the distributor. I wonder if its points bounce? Bad condenser... even tho it "was" new. Or the new vacuum advance is putting out too much advance. I did discover they aren't a direct bolt up also. I decided not to get it but instead look at mine more. I bought the truck 4 yrs ago I poured fuel down the carb and it started and ran after 25 yrs! It had a dried up fuel pump so it wouldn't stay running. So I then rebuilt the carb, new fuel pump, rebuilt the distributor,new wires and plugs and even did a timing chain and waterpump too.
