Brad, this is written as if I had no info of the (kicking bac you speak of below. The non kicking back means that it is now set (turned) differently as to timing or the points are not firing. Other ==> ,.... This is to follow Brad the owners, "current" condition. (Pardon the pun) Not intended to frustrate any help from others, Having said that,., and meant that,.. Sound

I used to be a rotary drill operator. Both with large truck mounted and smaller gas rigs. I suppose this could have been used for a tender for the smaller gas rigs. Sorta like a platform for holding the "final take out table" for 20 foot "A" rods of diamond drilling. Heck I am only saying that it would work for that in some conditions. On the other hand it might just b

Brad, That almost sounds like (kicking bac which means one of two things. Either,.. the distributor, earlier by you, got set poorly to timing mark. That is to say,.. the physical turning of the distributor clockwise or counter clockwise is way off. Most everyone controls and sets this with a timing light before tightening the hold down bolt. The other is the less likely idea that the timi

Yes, John that is likely (quite likely) before checking timing chain. My earlier post may have sounded far out to a elecrostat type,.. but I gotta say in my defense,.==> Man o Man!!! how simple it would be if your neighbor had a good points type distributor complete with cap to just check the running ability. In and out in 7 minutes. Then it would be narrowed down. Done it many time

I just spent 20-30 minutes with early morning coffee perusing the features of this (recent,. LOL) version of this forum. Recent,.LOL When you have a moment you might click onto and enjoy looking at DTA MAP. Here is an example you can use to traverse the map easily. ==> EX: You will have trouble finding 4 members at or near Portland Oregon with the pointer. However if you enlarge it w

Doug, they are air postulation ports, commonly referred to as APP's. When they recast into into the larger 65 66 type, Chrysler figured dynamics due to the larger bore required two postulation ports. I also wonder if they found with only one postulation port it may get plugged. Gordo

Steve, ""will do,"" I am in the middle of painting the firewall as winter weather permits. Shade tree is all we got for weather protection right now. It is modestly apart right now, that means it is 90 days or more. But that's OK. (: Shade trees don't work as it used to in the old days, especially when it snows. LOL Ha, Ha, Gordo

LMAO I reckon I was just being a bit lazy. (or whatever, LOL) So, though,.. "not intended by you", I shall surf in "good conscience" and see if I can find the answers using my part numbers. Steve, It does not work hard at all. (seriously) With a two barrel on it, she turns up to 5000 rpm in a swift heartbeat. Kinda like my old, (new then) 69 302 Z28 camaro I had. Like a swiss watch. MY 170,.. Three on the tree and 356's in the rear. In fact,... Sounds strong, ya would swear ya just turned 100 mph,... only to look out the side window and casually count the tar strips in b

Steve Kaeji must live very close to you. (Good guy and very knowledgable.) I have several complete points style distributor sitting on my work bench complete with cap which you could borrow. That is quicker than changing back to points in the original. Changing back to points is a pain and might not be the way to go. Unfortunately my excess "complete with cap" distributors and

Hey Big Bub, Whereabouts in Washington are you located? BTW, I didn't mean that one should go back to points. I just meant if you had a points distributor laying around that was good, your diagnose would be done in minutes. Being old and chunky as I am it takes me less than ten minutes, max of 15 minutes. Just trying to be helpful. Gordo

Hi Steve, good to hear from you. I have been making my way back. ** I have been doing new wood etc. on a 6 foot box. This 66 will be my daily driver. It is a 66 (snb) 225 slant 6 (w) 727. I bought this outa Boise a couple years back while delivering one I had previously sold. (250.00) Way too much.!! LOL It is now running and is one fun truck. I hope to turbo charge it with junk yard leftover

Recently I had a similar pextronix problem. I have a lot of spare parts around. I put in a points style distributor with cap alomg with matching coil and ballast, and wallah!! I was off and running with the old one. Either way, it is a quick way to identify the problem and whether or not it was where one suspected it to be. The truck is today, still a points style as I have not concern

That's where.!! The purpose is to have a high nine second capable power plant and drive train,.. yet the truck will be only in the high elevens due to being 8.5 foot tall for 1320 at which time it will come down to it's normal stance. Totally a wheel stander. Gordo PS Hi Mark, good to see ya postin more these days. Mark Rules,!! I have always appreciated your knowledge and your e

Well stated and with New Mexico clarity. Two different ways. Now it depends on what is under the hood, and your reaction time on the tree. Terry can watch. I been told he likes to watch. Thanks for the comeback Trey. Gordo My parrot was chirping, til I opened the window,.. "Sooner" was growling, til I threw him some raw meat.

Terry, you probably are "in the Know" due to other info you have. I saw no mention of a 6 foot being used. If you read the post wideblock 5:22 pm it sure sounds like a non 6 footer. So does the beginning post sorta,.. Hey I reckon you would know but I missed any written mention of Trey using a 6 foot factory sweptline. Oh what the heck, the truth is the photo shopped pic

Well it is about half the work and a great weight tranfer. By the cheap.!! LOL You would have the wheel stand advantage of the short 6' box frame. Not only that but one would have the correct frame arch already nicely up front. In favor of the short wheelbase the wheel opening would not need to be moved forward. In the case of your 7.5" box the wheel opening and the arch would need

Trey, When I posted I was thinking of starting from scratch. I was unaware you wanted to retrofit an existing. Btw, I don't think slapping on a longbed as you came back with is the best way to go. That was not the intent of my suggestion at all. I believe that if you re-read you will catch on all by yourself. Gordo

Hi Guys, (2 cents with cabin fever due to recent snows.) Perhaps simpler,.. If one were to go for the "altered wheel stander" "on the cheap" one could first lighten the front. Then useing a short box truck, leaving the wheelbase as is, then add onto rear frame needed length. Make the 6 foot box into a 8 foot box by extending it rearward to match the new extended frame len
