They left the factory with an aluminum tag fastened by two of the bolts that hold the cover on the differential.
I have not heard of a "large" knuckle or "small" knuckle distinction on the Dana 44. I do know there is a difference in the "closed" knuckle and the "open" knuckle. It's quite obvious just looking at each end of the housing. The "open" knuckle exposes the u-joint on the end of the axle and the "closed" knuckle conceals it.

Here are a couple of pictures of the engine compartment of my F350. You can see the hydraboost between the firewall and the master cylinder. I realize it's not a real clear view of the unit, but at least maybe the picture of a Ford 428 will either rile the gang up or send them to the corner, cringing. Ha Ha
