A friend has a 1968 D100 with Slant 6, 3 on the column and he was thinking about swapping in a 318. Would the tranny from the Slant 6 bolt right up? Do the A and LA 318's have the same bolt up pattern? What extra parts would be needed to swap it in. I haven't ever dealt with those transmi

Since the truck is a '68 it should have the poly bell with the hydraulic slave cylinder. The 318 A and LA will bolt right up to it. The flywheel may bolt up to it if it has the same crank bolt pattern. The flywheel on the slant 6 I have ('68 also) uses the type with evenly spaced crank bolt pattern. Not sure what the 318A or LA uses. So if you want to use the 3 speed I think you just need to check the flywheel and inspection cover.
