I have rebuilt the carb, which was a mess inside. After putting it back on it started up and ran well-at idle only. It would not increase in RPM. I thought that there was not enough fuel pressure and went through that system, but found it OK. Well, to make a long story short, the condenser failed. It was new, only in the truck for about two weeks. THis problem drove me nuts! Anyhow thanks to all here who helped out with suggestions and advice. I am still going to replace the lifters at some point in the future because of one ticking lifter might as well do them all if it is opened up to do one.
