I decided to check the lube in the steering box on my 71 D300.. It seems Dodge used two boxes for the Sweptlines, and my truck has the one made by Ross. After scraping off years of crud to find the filler hole, I discover what appears to be a slotted "bolt" on top. Guess this is the fille

If it steers and tracks very well and doesn't leak, I wouldn't touch the box with a 10' pole, but that's just me.
